This year, the Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont Fine Arts Department has partnered with the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra to bring you: Band-O-Rama 2024. This event will take place at Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont high school on Tuesday, February 29th, and features all band students in grades 5-12. There will be a free-will donation supper from 5-6:30PM (or until food runs out): Pulled pork, cheesy potatoes, a veggie, desserts (provided by our students) and beverages. All proceeds from the supper will go to the EBF Music Department.
During the meal, the EBF Music Department is sponsoring a silent basket auction for the Lenox family. Kyler Lenox (8th grade) was recently diagnosed with a Grade 2 infiltrative Astrocytoma (brain tumor). Kyler will be receiving long-term care, treatments, and more procedures/testing. All proceeds from the basket auction will go to the family.
Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to win tickets for the March or April Masterworks series performed by the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra.
The SEISO is in its 73rd year as a high quality regional ensemble that serves Southeast Iowa rural communities. Maestro Robert McConnell resides in St. Louis Missouri, but makes weekly trips to Iowa to run his family hog farm in Washington, Iowa. The mission of the SEISO is to promote quality musical experiences through live performances, educational opportunities, and educational outreach programs for all ages.
“It is my goal that virtually anyone can to our concerts without previous listening experience and find it fun and interesting. I believe in short musical demonstrations before we play a piece to help give the audience some mental leverage in their listening. I especially love doing this in the public schools where many of the kids think that they are not going to enjoy it but then realize that they do. If people will take the chance to come listen to us, I think they'll be pleasantly surprised at how much fun they have at one of our concerts. “
