Band Donation

On Sunday, April 27th the Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont music department was featured during intermission of the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra's final masterworks series. The EBF band was chosen as this year's recipient of the"Ruth P. Seim Concert for a Cause", a concert presented by the SEISO which supports music programs in local schools.

Band DonationThe symphony raised a record-breaking $2,148 for the band, and in an unprecedented event, a donor matched the contribution. Sid Meredith said the musical choices, the enthusiasm and the effort the kids put forth, as well as the support the school showed for their "team" was what made him want to pitch in with an extra boost. "We broke a lot of records that day, " Fairchild says. "This is the most money any band has ever received, and this years "Concert for a Cause" had the highest attendance documented to date with almost 300 people. It was an honor to represent our school district."

Scott Williamson Writes - The event was tremendous to attend, great music by the symphony and EBF band. I felt a high level of pride when the EBF band played during intermission and the support the EBF community brought to the event. More pride came forward when they announced the amount of donations raised for the symphony and EBF Band.

Mrs. Fairchild is a member of the Southeast Iowa Symphony and sounded terrific during her featured solo. Mrs. Fairchild played an English Horn solo from the William Tell overture.  Many students were able to identify the solo because it can be heard in many early Disney cartoons, much like the last movement is known as being the Lone Ranger theme song.
