EBF 3rd Grader Honored Among State's Most Advanced Students

In partnership with the Iowa Department of Education, National Math Stars (NMS) is honoring the state’s most advanced young mathematicians. Eddyville Elementary's

Dexter Chambers has been identified  as mathematically extraordinary and has been invited to apply for National Math Stars. This completely free program supports young mathematicians with mentorship, advanced instruction, and a community of like-minded peers. Eddyville Elementary's principal, Mrs. Nelson says Dexter was identified because he scored

 in the top 2% of all 

third grade 

students in mathematics on the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress in spring 2025.  Dexter was in Mrs. Settimi's third grade classroom this year.  Mrs. Settimi says of Dexter,  "

I could not be more proud of Dexter. Dexter is an extremely hard worker with a strong work ethic and this award is well deserved."  Above is a picture of Dexter accepting his award from Mrs. Nelson.
