Zane Mollenix Running the Ball Down Field

Friday night the Rockets took flight against the Mustangs of Davis County! In the 9th game since 2010, EBF took the lead with their 5th win over DC 47-16!

Our night on the scoreboard started late in the 1st Quarter with a handoff to Mollenix up the DC sideline with 2 minutes remaining.

Going into the 2nd Quarter, the excitement was high, the Rockets soon to be higher. With 8 minutes on the clock Brinegar pitches the ball late to Mollenix, who breaks through the 44 yard line, down the sideline and into the end zone! Following the touchdown, EBF's first 1-Point conversion of the year makes the scoreboard.

With 5:30 on the clock remaining in the 2nd, a short pass to Mollenix makes its way into the end zone for a second Rocket Touchdown of the quarter; PAT is no good.

Late in the 2nd, Thomas makes a great stop in the backfield thanks to a bad snap. The play leads DC to 4th and 8 yards to go; DC punts. Thomas' stop leads the Rockets to a successful drive. With 1:30 left in the half, Brinegar tosses the ball to Mollenix who then steps and makes a throw deep to Holohan - third Rocket Touchdown of the quarter is good! Following the play an offsides call on DC leads a good 1-Point Conversion to be a redo with the ball being placed half the distance to the goal. EBF changes plans and goes for the 2-Point Conversion; a QB Sneak leads the ball in and ends the half 27-0 for the Rockets!

With the momentum of the first half, the Rockets take the field and kick off to DC.

In the first offensive DC drive of the second half, Gillespie gets an interception and runs the ball forward 30 seconds into the second half. EBF finds themselves at 4th & 2, Brinegar runs the ball outside to score the touchdown; 1-Point Conversion is good!

At 8 minutes in the 3rd Quarter, 11 & Goal, Brinegar fakes a handoff and then sneaks the ball outside towards the DC sideline and takes it to the house! This touchdown takes the score from 34-0 to 40-0 and begins the first running clock of the evening. 1-Point PAT finds its way home through the goalpost!

Finally, to end the EBF scoreboard action of the evening, the Rockets find themselves on the 35 yard line with 2nd & 10. After the snap Brinegar steps into the pocket and sails the ball to Holohan on the 5 yard line; Emmett makes the touchdown, ending the score at 47 for the evening!

Overall, our boys played absolutely great. The lessons we've learned from Week 1 & 2 have begun to pay off, and we're really seeing what the Rockets can do when we string good plays together, have a relentless offense, and make crucial stops on defense.

The Rockets take the field next week in Sigourney against the Sigourney-Keota Cobras!
